Now that you seen the features of the Wibiya toolbar and its benefits, you’re probably wondering how to install it.

On the Wibiya site you will see at the top “Get It Now.”  Click on that.  You will be brought to a screen where you need to enter some information.  Do that.

Step 2 will ask you to choose the type of theme you want for your toolbar, do that.  Step 3 will ask you to select the apps you want to use.  Once selected move to the final step in the process.

You will be looking at a screen for installation instructions.  The first thing you will see is a button to download the Wibiya plugin.  Do this without question.

***Before you leave this screen, copy and paste into notepad the activation code.  See the image below.***

Do not copy the period after the .js in the code, this will cause the plugin to not work.

After downloading the plugin you will need to upload it to your site via FTP client like Filezilla.  Once uploaded it should appear in your site’s plugin directory. Click activate.

The options will appear under the appearance tab -> Wibiya configuration.  All you have to do is click the checkbox for “Enable or disable the Wibiya Toolbar” and enter the activation code. Update toolbar and you’re done.

Now you should see your toolbar at the bottom of your website with your selected theme and applications.  Again the nice part is that you don’t edit or reinstall the toolbar when you want to make changes.  You just login to your Wibiya control panel and any changes you make there will take effect instantly on your site.

It’s true.  One of the best things about using this toolbar, is that it is easy to install, customize, and when you want to make modifications you do it without having to uninstall and reinstall anything.

This toolbar is provided at no charge by a website called Wibiya.  To get this toolbar you have to sign up with an account at Wibiya.

This is essential because after you sign up and create your toolbar, you can then edit the toolbar by logging into Wibiya.  Whatever changes you make will automatically update to your site, which is nice.

After you sign up you will come to a download plugin screen.  At this screen you need to take note of TWO items.  I say this because I didn’t when I first installed it and had to track back and find the second.

After installation (or before) you can start to add different applications to your toolbar via your Wibiya.com dashboard.  The apps are continuously updating, but here is what is available at time of this post.

The descriptions are straight from Wibiya.com and if a * is next to the title it means that that app is being used on the Easy Fitness Websites toolbar.

1. Search*

With the Wibiya search box you can enable your readers to search from any where on your website as the search box is always visible.

You can add as many search options as you want and make it easy for your readers to access different types of content.

2. Latest Posts*

Keep your users engaged with your content by giving them the option the view the most recent posts you have created from anywhere on your website. This application also has an automatic image detection that displays a thumbnail image with each post. Once a user hovers over the the tumbnail the full image is displayed to increase engagement.

3. Subscribe*

Enable your users to subscribe to your content from anywhere on your website. With this application each user can easily subscribe to your RSS feed even if he is just finished reading a post. Moreover, this subscribe function doesn’t open a new window but keeps the user in your website with an overlay.

So you can see that Wibiya has a lot of options and different applications for your needs.  The one thing I am waiting for is an integration with an email capture system such as Aweber.

So this is an extensive post about Wibiya and its features.  Once you’ve selected your applications, you can then rearrange your toolbar and put the apps where you want them.  Best part is as  I mentioned you don’t have to re-install anything if you want to make changes.

Have you been wondering how to get one of your own on your website or blog?  Perhaps you read this post – Install a Facebook like button on Thesis themed Wordpress site but you’re not running the Thesis theme.

Casey even commented on how to get a like button without Thesis, so here comes the answer.

Searching the Wordpress plugins database for “Facebook Like” retrieves 176 results as I write this post.  This does include certain plugins with Facebook in their description like Sociable and Sharethis (read: Social Bookmarking Wordpress Plugins).

However looking at the first 24 results, each of them is a Facebook like button plugin just like we want.  I want to note right away that I do not use any of these plugins, I have installed a like button on Easy Fitness Websites by doing the Thesis theme modification I wrote about before.

Since I have no experience with these plugins, I will offer you the description and rating of each plugin.  I am going to post only plugins with a 3 star rating or better (these are user review ratings), and have at least 5 or more reviews.  If only 1 person has given it a 5 star rating, that isn’t really conducive to its actual quality.

Lets get started with the plugins.

1. FaceBook Like Button Plugin for Wordpress

The description for this plugin states “The FBLikeButton Plugin for WordPress allows you to configure and display the FaceBook Like Button before and/or after each post and/or page, and whether or not you want the button to appear on your homepage.”

What I like about this description is that you can control the location of the plugin and having it in multiple spots.  If you notice, on Easy Fitness Websites the like button is only at the top of individual pages (might change to before and after).  However this plugin makes it easy to place it wherever you want.

This plugin has a 3 3/4 star rating, has been downloaded over 5,000 times, and you can get it here: Facebook Like Button Plugin for Wordpress

2. Facebook Like Button Plugin

The description for this plugin states “Add the new Facebook Like Button to your wordpress blog with ease. Fully configurable and customizable to your likings. Configure where you want it to be visible or you can include it on single post with shortcode.”

Not too much detail about this plugin unfortunately, but it does have a star rating of 3 and has been downloaded over 9,000 times. Get it here: Facebook Like Button Plugin

3. Facebook Like Button

The description for this plugin states “Add Facebook Like Button to your wordpress blog with a lot of customization options, And you can preview the settings at real-time in the settings section. Add the button count, or normal by using short cuts [fb_like] [fb_count].”

Again pretty weak on the description, but a 3 star rating and download amount totaling over 15,000.  Get it here: Facebook Like Button

4. Like-Button-Plugin-for-Wordpress

The description for this plugin states “This plugin adds a Like-Button after every post/page you choose (you can exclude some IDs. These exlucded IDs will have no Like-Button). The Like-Button-Widget includes a little Like-Button-Generator to make it easier for you to get a Like-Button to your sidebar. It also adds a Shortcode for your like-Button. It is also possible to choose the XFBML or the iframe-Button. You could also choose the position of your like-button within the post/page.”

What I like about this plugin is the shortcode option.  This allows you to place the like button anywhere in a post or page.  So if you write up a kick butt MMA conditioning post with a Youtube video, you could put the like button right under the video.

So there you have it, a bunch of Facebook like button plugins.  Feel free to choose one and let everyone know which you chose and why.

Are you a fitness professional in another country?  Is the English language not your strong point and you’d rather read this fitness website design blog in another language?

Did you know you can?  At the bottom of this page is something called a Wibiya toolbar.  It has some great features that are outlined here – Using the Wibiya Toolbar on Your Fitness Website

But one of the benefits it allows for you right now is the ability to translate the site into the language of your choice.  How do you do it?

All the way to the left of the Wibiya toolbar you will see the word translate.  When you click on it a menu will pop up asking what language you would like.

When you select a new language, the text on the site will be converted for you.  Not only does this help you if your first language is not English, but think about how this might help readers of your fitness site.

So I hope this short little tutorial helped you out with the ease of reading Easy Fitness Websites.  You can quickly and easily translate this site from English to German or Chinese even.

The only thing I hope is that if you do speak and read in a different language, you can read this post well enough to convert the site into your preferred language.

Lately everytime Facebook has made a change to their site, it has been something annoying and unwanted.  I still can’t take the news feed section which allows me to see every friend of mine who friended someone, joined some group like “I have a hairy back,” or endless updates to Farmville.

However once in a while Facebook makes a change that is rather helpful, at least to bloggers and web designers.

Facebook changed all the Join Group or Become a Fan verbage to Like, plain and simple.  However what they also did was now allow websites to install a Like button their own site.

What does this mean?  Well if you look at the top of this post, you can see a Like button.  If you click it than on your Facebook profile it will tell people you like this page.

That means more sharing of your sites pages and more viewing of your fitness website.  But installing the like button is where most people get scared.

It means to enter some code, though you could also download one of the many plugins that have came out since Facebook made this change.  Thesis users can easily enter a snippet of code into the custom_functions file and don’t have to add another plugin to their arsenal.

If you’re a Thesis user, then go to Thesis -> Custom File Editor -> custom_functions.

Enter the following code:

Its really that easy.  Just don’t forget to close your end tag with a ?> group. You can see the location for this button will be before your post, you can also move it to after your post if you want by changing ‘thesis_hook_before_post’ to ‘thesis_hook_after_post’ if you want the like button by your social bookmarking links.

After the above code is up you should have no problems.  The above code also enters the like button on single pages only.  It can be modified to be on every post even on the homepage, and if you would like to do that, then use the code below instead.
