Quick way to get links back to your blog

Links…traffic…links…traffic…repeat

When you are creating a blog or website, your ultimate goal is to get that site traffic.  When you are being taught how to get traffic, you hear that you need to go out and build links.  Tons of them.  Without links, you’re relying on people to search out your site. For people to find you in the search engines, you need to have links so  Google will like your site.  Its just a big popularity contest.  So wanna know a quick way to build links, probably something you might be overlooking.  You might be doing this tactic already, but without the link building portion.

Comment on blogs.  Chances are you’re reading a number of blogs already.  Fitness pros are reading blogs from PatNickandJim, Chris McCombs, Steve Hochman, Bedros Keullian and others.  You might be commenting on them, but are you dropping your link in the fields it asks you.  You know, it says Name, Email, Website.  Many trainers are not putting their website into that section, and its really dumb not to.

If you take the time to read a post, you should leave a comment.  In addition you should other blogs in your niche and read those, and comment.  Not some sporadic deal either.  Use a service like Google Reader or Notify.me to manage subscriptions to these sites.  Check them everyday.  Comment on every new post that those authors write.  Always drop your link.

Franklin Bishop wrote an awesome blog post back in August of 2008 about why he comments on 36 different blogs everyday.  Ya, every day.  Here are his 5 reasons:

1. I Get Traffic Back to My Blog – Commenting on different blogs is still the number one way to get traffic back to your blog. I have got most of my traffic from commenting on other blogs. I tend to use the name of my blog instead of my real name so that people already know what my blog is about.
2. I Get to Build My Brand – You can build your brand by commenting on blogs. Trust me, there are many people that just go through and read the different comments just like people do on You Tube. What you write is what a lot of people will remember you by just like the blog posts on your blog. So think before you comment.
3. Content Ideas – Usually you have to read the post before you can comment. Reading different posts on different blogs can give you a whole bunch of ideas for content. This has really helped me a lot so I have good ideas of things I can talk about to help bloggers. I know I can build a good blog since I have over 20,000 subscribers on two different blogs, but thinking of different things bloggers want help with is the hardest part.
4. More Subscribers – If your comments drive traffic to your blog then most likely the people have liked what you are saying and could potentially subscribe to your blog. I have got most of my subscribers coming from different blogs after looking at my statistics.
5. Becoming a Better Writer- Like I said above, you usually have to read the post before you can comment. Reading allows you to become a better writer if you think so or not. The more you read, the more ways you will begin to write articles.

I have to absolutely agree with Franklin on each and every point he makes.  Many fitness pros can speak a ton of fitness tips and information, but they don’t know how to put it to keyboard and blog.  So blogs are started because everyone SHOULD have a blog, two posts are made, and then it goes to the way side.  Either no traffic is coming to your blog (which doesn’t happen overnight) or people just don’t have time.

You gotta keep on posting, thats the only way to get more people to your blog.  Keep posting and find 10 blogs to regularly comment on, this being one of them of course.  What do you think? Is Franklin’s technique good, or will it not provide any results?  Let me know with a comment.

This is a great tip I need to implement. I already comment on many blogs so why not just add my website.

Should I add a link to a specific post or just a link to my blog in general though?

Linking back to specific posts is a much better option. Especially if the content is related. So if there is a post on interval training, then linking back to your explanation of interval training will be more beneficial.

It will also keep readers of that other blog on your site longer because they were already reading about interval training. Then you’re giving them more interval training information.

The writer of http://www.easyfitnesswebsites.com has written a superior article. I got your point and there is nothing to argue about. It is like the following universal truth that you can not disagree with: If you see a cactus falling, DO NOT catch it!!! I will be back.
